Graphic Blends
Around the time that I was taking a medical leave of absence from school at Chapman University I had become a little bit obsessed with Alicia Keys and on some of the fansites I visited I saw these graphic blends or images that were blended together with other elements and sometimes some text as well. On one of my favorite sites for Alicia Keys there was actually a blend challenge where the owner had a contest for people to use various images she provided and create blends which she would then judge. There were quite a few talented people and I got inspired to try it out.
I started by using the Corel Photo Paint program because at that time that was the only one I had access to because my parents had the Corel suite for work purposes. With each new graphic that I created I felt like I was getting better and better at it. I started out by taking a few of my favorite pictures of Alicia Keys and erasing the entire background so it was just her. Then I would put all the images I had cut out of her together on a single new image and add a texture or patterned background. I would also add some stamps which usually included some kind of sparkles. I would then also add some text and of course what was similar to a watermark and signature to the graphic blend.
When I took an online class for web design I was introduced to a program called paintshop pro and I was told to get the free trial version to create graphics for websites. After I got my free trial I started using this program to also create my graphic blends. It was around this point when I was introduced to Signature tag making and all the groups and forums which I joined many. Through the various groups and forums I was able to do tutorials and learn more tips and tricks for making even better blends of my favorite artist, Alicia Keys.
Also at the time I was in several yahoo groups and started to make various graphic blends for the main pictures on some of the different groups. So below you can click on the graphic to view a gallery of my 1st Alicia Keys blends. I am going to be adding more galleries of more graphic blends very soon! So for now enjoy my first set!
